JOB TITLE: Methods Engineer – Tendering


Job Purpose and Scope:

Working within our in-house Pre-Construction team, the position will see the successful candidate playing an integral role in supporting a variety of project teams in the UK. Providing engineering construction methodology, planning, and estimating advice, analysis and development during tender phase, through to operational handover.

Accountabilities and key tasks:

·        Act as a bridge between business development, operations and estimating teams to understand the technical requirements of a tender and evaluate them accordingly

·        Review tender documents and study technical specifications, works information and requirements highlighting any areas of risk and/or opportunity for consideration at Selction (Bid/No Bid) phase

·        Participate in Tender Selection (Bid/No Bid) process to validate opportunities

·        Prepare tender clarifications to remove ambiguities in the tender documents

·        Attend site surveys/visits to enhance our understanding of the potential project

·        Collaborate with the Estimating and Project teams to optimise the constructability of projects, including defining logistic plans, phasing of construction, and identify any sub-contract activities to support costing estimates

·        Participate in the development of the construction programme at tender stage

·        Support in the preparation and drafting of the Technical Proposal in accordance with ITT requirements, this may include methodology and programme narratives 

·        Provide pricing and programme analysis support to the Estimator and Tender Manager for reviews, fixed price proposals and tenders

Essential and Desirable Criteria:



Fluent in verbal and written English

Strong experience in documentation analysis, review, and cost modelling

An engineering background, ideally within Ground Engineering or Repair and Preservation

Excellent time management and organisation skills.

Excellent attention to detail throughout the tendering process

Solid and proven experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Ability to provide creative solutions and problem solve

A good team player and communicator who is able to work with all levels of the organisation.



Proposal Writing: Experience in crafting detailed and persuasive proposals gained through a similar tendering role.

Project Management: Background in managing projects, particularly in planning and execution phases.

Client and Stakeholder Relations: Experience in liaising with clients and understanding their needs

Financial Acumen: Proficiency in building cost models and understanding pricing strategies.
