The Project

We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Manager/Director to join our new $3Bn wastewater infrastructure upgrade project in Washington, DC. This mega project includes the construction of 9km of tunnels utilising Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and is scheduled for completion in 2030.

This is a high-profile, complex project that demands international best practices to guarantee safe and efficient delivery.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Director, the Safety Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing & Implementing Safety Plans: Drafting and executing a comprehensive project-specific Health & Safety strategy aligned with local regulations and international best practices.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Leading a team of Safety Managers and Officers, providing training, mentorship, and development programs to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implementing best-in-class safety practices, fostering innovation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in occupational health and safety.

The Candidate

  • 10+ years of experience in construction safety, with a focus on heavy civil engineering, tunnelling, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven leadership experience managing safety teams on billion-dollar infrastructure projects.
  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
