MECH ELEC TEST ENGINEER - County Galway.

Job Scope:

Research, design and development of optical test systems and wider test strategy for Production Systems, working closely with diverse R&D Teams, and gaining a clear understanding of future product requirements.

Development of fully featured test systems from early prototype / feasibility stage to high volume, tightly regulated production processes.

Design & development of Standardised Test Strategies to meet Project Milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

Development of optical and camera module test equipment and infrastructure
Apply engineering best practices, including Software & Hardware standardisation from Prototyping through to Series Production.
Collaborate with R&D and Production Teams both locally and internationally to quickly understand project requirements, risks, milestones and develop test strategy timing plans and deliverables.
Project manage internal/external development of optic and electrical test systems
Provide development cost estimate to support customer RFQ's
Apply Continuous Improvement Policy to existing processes
Provide informal and formal (documented) training as part of project handover to Production
Hardware Development

Integration of Test applications to Automated Production Processes
Liaise with R&D and Industrial engineering teams on Design for Manufacture, Design for Test and Product Design reviews.
Specify and design test fixtures, considering Poka Yoke techniques, tolerance stack up etc.
Upgrade of existing tester platforms to trial new hardware/test solutions & release of validated solutions to production systems with supporting documentation and training in place.

Validation/Qualification

Generation of Qualification Plan and statistical data to validate product test strategy
Generation of Technical & Training documentation
Generation of detailed NPI build reports, process yields, failure modes, etc.

Qualifications and experience requirements:

Degree Qualified in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics or similar
Minimum 3 Years’ experience within manufacturing environment (ideally automotive or electronics)
Experience in document writing is required i.e. procedures, specifications, reports, etc.
General software package skills – Microsoft Excel, Google Drive, Revision Control, etc.
Capable of generating and understanding capability and statistical reports.
Experience in Engineering Project Management
Knowledge of Agile development principles
Proficient at 2D 3D mechanical and electrical drawings and design

It would be an advantage to have experience in any of:
Vision / laser-based products and applications
Capability in mechanical assembly and electrical debug
Experience with 2D and 3D CAD packages (CATIA, SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion or similar)
Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles (i.e. strengths, torques, forces)
NI LabVIEW and Test Stand Experience considered beneficial
Experience with Automation equipment (Sensors, I/O, PLC programming, Beckhoff or similar), Robotics, Scanners

Knowledge of Photography or Videography advantageous
