Engineering Mechanical Team Leader - County Galway.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Team Leader position is based within the R&D department and will lead a team of mechanical designers developing next generation systems.

This is a diverse position where the successful applicant is accountable and drives all the mechanical aspects of their project(s), to deliver robust designs on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

Management & Competency-

Manage team of engineers and technicians (yearly reviews, meetings, missions, objectives)
Define the necessary qualifications and training plan for team with the support of management.
Allocate team staff in the projects activities.
Propose trainings and career evolutions with the support of management.
Contribute to the recruitment of the members of department.
Supports the Leads and Engineers on technical decision making.

Budget-

Propose and follow the budget for team.
Responsible of the Team Efficiency Plan and achievements

Process, Methodology, Tools, Equipment-

Deploy the Engineering process, methodology and tools defined by / together with the Manager/Diector
Participate in the definition of processes, methods and the tools necessary to properly handle projects.
Ensure the full deployment of 5 axes methodology.
Participate in the improvement of standards, methods & tools

Standardisation & Robust Design-

Support team by ensuring knowledge, training and implementation of the standards.
Review and challenge de-standardisation requests before release
Ensure that each single design is achieving the highest level of robust design.

Qualification and Experience requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design or equivalent
At least 5-10 years’ experience in automotive mechanical design
People and budget management experience preferred.
Experience in developing products from concept to production in an automotive environment. Experience with IATF 16949 and the associated design processes.
Experience leading design teams.
Interfacing across a multidisciplinary environment in a clear and effective manner
Experience interfacing with suppliers and customers.
Working within quality systems i.e. ISO9001 / IATF16949.
