Health & Safety Officer | South Dublin

€50-60k + Vehicle

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Health & Safety Advisor for a leading residential developer in South Dublin. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are maintained. This role involves collaborating with site managers, project teams, and contractors to foster a safe working environment, compliant with all relevant regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment and Management:

    • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits on construction sites.
    • Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
    • Develop and update site-specific safety plans.
  • Compliance and Regulations:

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
    • Keep up-to-date with new legislation and advise on necessary changes.
  • Training and Development:

    • Organize and deliver health and safety training sessions for employees and contractors.
    • Promote awareness and understanding of health and safety practices and policies.
  • Incident Management:

    • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes.
    • Prepare reports and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, incidents, and training.
    • Prepare regular reports for senior management on health and safety performance.
  • Safety Culture:

    • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.
    • Engage with site teams to encourage proactive safety practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and other stakeholders regarding health and safety matters.
    • Participate in safety committees and forums to share best practices and updates.

Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry, preferably residential development.
    • Proven track record of implementing and managing health and safety systems on construction sites.
  • Certifications:

    • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
    • IOSH membership or similar professional body affiliation.
  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and produce detailed reports.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
