Senior Associate - EH&S (Cork).
Key responsibilities of this role:
Drive the implementation of site environmental sustainability & energy management goals
Develop, and implement a strategy of continuous improvement in EHS performance
Provide specialist advice to management and workforce by interpreting environmental legislation, corporate standards, policies and industry guidance.
Deliver high quality environmental training, communications and technical support.
Ensure company compliance and continuous improvement in Environmental standards, systems and programmes as part of the broader HSE team.
Oversee development, integration and continuous improvement of hazard identification, risk assessment and other programmes such as Air Emissions Control, Wastewater Emissions Treatment, Soil and Groundwater Protection, Energy Reduction Program, Sustainability, Resource Usage, Waste Management, Solvent Recovery, BAT, Green Chemistry, AER's, IED.
Support the environmental aspects of the site Accident Prevention and Emergency Response programs
Knowledge and maintenance of the site Environmental Liabilities Risk Assessment and Residuals Management Plan.
Understand and implement Environmental requirements in a project environment through knowledge of applicable legislation and industry practices.
Understand and support behavioural safety programmes for injury prevention.
Support Environmental Risk Assessments for existing and new operations.
Investigate and provide legislative guidance during incident response.
Liaising with and report to Environmental Health & Safety regulatory agencies and corporate auditing groups.
Collaboration with site manufacturing and technical support personnel to manage Environmental aspects of current and new processes.
Review process and equipment changes to identify potential Environmental impacts.
Participate in process flow teams and contractor EHS meetings
Interested applicants should have:
Honours Degree minimum qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering or Science.
Minimum of 5 years' relevant professional experience
Experience of managing environmental aspects at a pharmaceutical manufacturing site would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite.
Direct experience of the environmental compliance requirements and considerations of on-site environmental control systems such as advanced wastewater treatment technology, advanced air emissions abatement technology and associated continuous emissions monitoring systems would also be an advantage.
Experience of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) and the associated compliance requirements would also be an advantage.
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
Good IT skills and knowledge of standard software packages
Experience of operating within an integrated cross-functional EHS organisation
Practical implementation of Environmental management systems and internal audit programmes as part of the broader HSE team
Demonstrated good planning and organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks, commitment to task completion and timelines.
Must have an ability to deliver training to varied audiences
Must show initiative – ability and willingness to introduce new and modified programmes
