Site Quality Lead - Co. Cavan.
This pivotal position plays a vital role in managing the operations of our Cavan site, specializing in cooked food production, including high-risk processes such as canning. As a member of the site management team, the Quality Lead collaborates with operations to ensure food safety, quality, and compliance. The role requires a candidate with a scientific background and experience in managing high-risk food production processes, coupled with an interest in supporting operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety and Quality Management:
- Oversee and manage high-risk food production processes, including canning operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, legislation, and liaise with Department of Agriculture officials.
- Maintain and continuously improve the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
- Lead HACCP implementation and act as the HACCP Team Leader.
Quality Assurance Oversight:
- Handle corrective and preventative actions and manage non-conforming products.
- Monitor raw materials and stock to maintain high-quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to customer specifications and manage customer complaints.
- Facilitate self-assessments and participate in audits conducted by customers and third party organizations.
Accreditation and Compliance:
- Lead efforts to achieve and maintain certifications such as BRC and Bord Bia PQAS.
- Serve as the site representative for Bord Bia PQAS accreditation.
- Uphold sanitation and cleaning standards, managing laboratory activities and hygiene compliance.
Operational Support:
- Contribute to product and process development initiatives.
- Maintain consistency with company standards related to quality, yields, and specifications.
- Support site operations by resolving issues promptly and ensuring a safe, clean working environment.
Team Management:
- Oversee staff performance in collaboration with the site manager.
- Manage attendance, absenteeism, and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies.
- Coordinate staff training, including onboarding for new employees.
Continuous Improvement and Collaboration:
- Participate in Lean Management initiatives to drive operational improvements.
- Work closely with technical, sales, and operational teams to achieve site goals.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure consistent standards.

Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to the Site Manager and the Group Technical Manager while collaborating with other key departments and stakeholders.
